What is PTMEG
Polytetrahydrofuran is a white waxy solid that is easily soluble in alcohols, esters, ketones, aromatics, and chlorinated hydrocarbons, but insoluble in ester hydrocarbons and water. When the temperature exceeds room temperature, it will become a transparent liquid.

Easily soluble in alcohols, esters, ketones, aromatics, and chlorinated hydrocarbons, insoluble in ester aliphatic hydrocarbons and water. As the molecular weight increases, the solubility decreases. At room temperature, PTMEG exhibits water absorption. Its water absorption depends on its molecular weight, with a maximum absorption of 2% water.
Application of PTMEG
Polytetrahydrofuran is mainly used as a soft chain segment for block polyurethane or block polyether polyester. Blocked polyurethane rubber made from polytetrahydrofuran with an average molecular weight of 1000 can be used as tires, transmission belts, washers, etc; It can also be used in coatings, synthetic leather, films, etc. The block polyether polyester produced is a thermoplastic elastomer. Polytetrahydrofuran with an average molecular weight of 2000 can be used to produce polyurethane elastic fibers. In 2008, it was reported that block polyurethane made from polytetrahydrofuran had good anticoagulant properties and could be used as a medical polymer material.
